FAQ

What does the free Lite scan check?

The Lite scan runs four DNS checks on your domain: SPF record present, DMARC record present, MX or null MX coherent, and BIMI readiness. It gives a score out of 100, a band and the top 3 fixes. It does not send mail.

Is the Lite scan free?

Yes. The Lite scan is free. Enter your domain on the scan page and press Scan.

Do I need to add a DNS record to prove I own the domain?

No. In production, the free Lite scan does not need an ownership TXT record. The Standard scan always needs a verified ownership TXT record.

Can I scan a client domain?

Yes. The live Lite scan accepts any valid domain name. It reads only public DNS records for that domain. It does not send mail.

Does the Lite scan check DKIM?

No. The DKIM check needs the selector names that your sending tools use, so it runs only in the Standard scan. If SPF also fails, the Lite report shows a warning that DKIM is not verified.

How is the score calculated?

Each check has a weight: SPF 15, DMARC 15, MX 5 and BIMI 5. A pass earns the full weight, a partial result earns half and a fail earns nothing. A check with an unknown result does not count. The score is the points earned out of the points that apply, on a scale of 100.

What do the score bands mean?

A score of 80 or more is Ready. A score from 60 to 79.9 is Ready with fixes. A score below 60 is Not ready.

Which rules do the checks cite?

Every check in the result names its rule and shows its weight and the points lost. SPF cites RFC 7208. DMARC cites RFC 9989. Null MX cites RFC 7505. BIMI cites the IETF Internet-Draft for BIMI, draft-14.

Does the scan store my data or ask for my email?

No. The scan stores nothing. It makes no database write, keeps no report cache, sets no cookie and does not ask for your email address.

Is there a limit on how many scans I can run?

Yes. Scans are rate-limited. If you reach the limit, wait a short time and try again.

Does a high score mean my mail will reach the inbox?

No. The score is a readiness indicator. It is not an assurance of inbox placement or of regulatory standing. The site and its reports are informational and are not legal advice.
